The Scorpion Abdominal Exercise
Here's another ab exercise you can do with an exercise ball. This one is more for advanced trainees.
Just a reminder: visible abdominal muscles or a flat stomach have little to do with abdominal training. You need a comprehensive fat loss program for that--I'd recommend Mike Geary's Truth About Abs.

Cain Velasquez defeats Brock Lesnar
UFC 121: We officially have a new UFC heavyweight champion! Cain Velasquez has defeated Brock Lesnar to become the first Mexican heavyweight champion.
Lesnar began the round on the offensive, but Velasquez patiently weathered the storm. He was able to get up from Lesnar's takedown and eventually began is own heavy-handed attack. Valasquez won by TKO, reigning punches on a downed opponent who was no longer intelligently defending himself.

Holy Grail Body Transformation Review
A review of Tom Venuto's Holy Grail Body Transformation Program.
I started promoting this program as soon as it came out. I was willing to do this based on Tom Venuto's excellent reputation as an author, trainer, and practitioner. Since then I've had quite a few readers purchase the program.
I've now had the chance to look over it more carefully. So, is it really possible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time? Absolutely! This can be done through manipulating your carbohydrate and caloric intake--timing it according to your training. Venuto explains how.
Let me tell you a few more observations:
*The e-book is very well written: straightforward and no hype.
*The book is based on the "zig-zag" approach to dieting. This was not my first time to hear of it, but I like the way Venuto explains the concept.
*I love the way Venuto cuts through so much of the crap we read in bodybuilding mags and supplement advertisements.
*I also appreciate the way Venuto explains his reasoning behind his program. He gives you his rationale for choosing specific options for how to cycle calories, for example.
*Training information: any good transformation program needs to include training. Venuto discusses resistance training, cardio, etc.
Here's what one of my blog reader's had to say:
In conclusion, I recommend Venuto's Holy Grail Body Transformation if you want to learn how to build muscle and lose fat at the same time. I believe you'll be satisfied with it if you are willing to apply the principles Venuto describes. Just CLICK HERE if you want to check it out.

This program takes the Zig-Zag concept of nutrition to the next level. It's simple to implement. Since starting it myself and following the T.N.B. workouts to the letter.. I've gained 2 lbs of lean muscle and lost ~2% body fat.
Really quite a feat considering I've been an advanced trainee for over a decade.
For some reason I figured this would be a lot harder technically. Tom really puts this into perspective and makes it a simple to follow concept. If you want a body transformation, this program is a very good place to start.

Student in Wheelchair Scores Touchdown
Dylan Galloway scores a touchdown for the Manila Lions in their game verses the Rivercrest Colts. The Manila senior was born with cerebral palsy and is confined to an electric wheelchair, but thanks to a great show of sportsmanship from the Rivercrest Colts, Galloway was able to live the dream of every high school football player and score a touchdown.

Muscle Skinny
Check out this video of formerly skinny kid who put on 17 lb of muscle in a year. He did this with Vince Delmonte's No-Nonsense Muscle Building, my #1 selling muscle building program on this blog. I wish I looked like that after my first year of training.

Fish Oil and Body Composition; Cortisol (Study)
Fish oil is one of the few supplements I recommend. It seems the more we study it, the more good things we learn about it.
The Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition recently published another study on the benefits of this supplement. 44 healthy individuals participated in the study (men and women). They were randomly assigned either 4grams of fish oil (FO) or a placebo (safflower oil; SO). The test was also done in a double-blind manner, making it a double-blind, placebo-controlled study.
Here are the results:
Compared to the SO group, there was a significant increase in fat free mass following treatment with FO (FO= +0.5 +/- 0.5kg, SO= -0.1 +/- 1.2kg, p=0.03), a significant reduction in fat mass (FO= -0.5 +/- 1.3kg, SO= +0.2 +/- 1.2kg, p=0.04). and a tendency for a decrease in body fat percentage (FO= -0.4 +/- 1.3% body fat, SO= +0. 3 +/- 1.5% body fat, p=0.08). No significant differences were observed for body mass (FO= 0.0 +/- 0.9kg, SO= +0.2 +/- 0.8kg), RMR (FO= +17 +/- 260kcal, SO= -62 +/- 184kcal) or respiratory exchange ratio (FO= -0.02 +/- 0.09, SO= +0.02 +/- 0.05). There was a tendency for salivary cortisol to decrease in the FO group (FO= -0.064 +/- 0.142ug/dL, SO= +0.016 +/- 0.272ug/dL, p=0.11). There was a significant correlation in the FO group between change in cortisol and change in fat free mass (r = -0.504, p=0.02) and fat mass (r = 0.661, p=0.001) CONCLUSION: 6wk of supplementation with FO significantly increased lean mass and decreased fat mass. These changes were significantly correlated with a reduction in salivary cortisol following FO treatment.
Excerpt from Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (emphasis mine).
I'm not saying you should expect radical changes in your body from just taking a few capsules. But I would encourage you to consider fish oil as part of your overall nutrition/supplementation strategy.
