Mark McGwire has released a statement to the AP, admitting he used steroids when he broke the batting record '98. His statement expressed regret over using steroids, acknowledging that it has tainted his athletic accomplishments.
He's done an interview with Bob Costas on the MLB network.
My response:
*The only real news here is McGwire finally admitted to steroid use--if anyone thought otherwise, he/she is quite naive.
*As I've mentioned before, I think we are too quick to demonize athletes that use anabolic steroids. It is a catch-22: we pay millions to see them run touchdowns and hit home runs, yet we are in shock when they take drugs to help them perform these feats. I find this to be a bit hypocritical.
