This is a Japanese guy named Kato who started going to a "Diet Hospital" in China (aimin.com.cn) in July 2003, started at 272kg and at one time dropped to as low as 99kg, before rebounding back to 170kg. He was motivated due to a slip and fall accident in winter 2002, when he broke some bones and couldn't be transported by ambulance because of his weight.
