Exercise and Depression

A recent study indicates that exercise may work as well as medication for treating the symptoms of depression. I was particularly intrigued with this study because the patients involved suffered from "major depression." You can read about it here.

I have never suffered from clinical depression, but I can testify that working out dramatically improves my mood. I've noticed that I get grumpy if I haven't gone to the gym in a while. Conversely, I usually feel great after a tough workout--physically drained but somehow mentally relieved. This has been particularly true during times of stress.

Hopefully this will encourage you to get to a gym, court, or track and get your muscles moving. It will benefit your mind as well as your body!

This is true. I'm currently reading stuff about "cutting" which I will post in my blog in the future and one of the things advised to battle it is exercise.
